Mini Research - Room Reservation Process

Introduction

New technologies and new e- business models helps businesses to integrate most business transactions so as to making business transactions easier and user friendly. In this instance hotel operations have evolved where most transactions are computerised and can be completed quickly without complications. In particular the room reservation process has evolved from direct booking system to online booking system. the online booking systems has varoius integrated functions such as options to choose preferred hotels ability the view live streaming video of the enviroment around the hotel and views of the hotel rooms and luxurious facilites. ability to make payment in just a click after choosing the prefered hotel and hotel room.

Comparison of Past and Present


Past  Present 
Bookings were made through calling of hotels. Bookings can be made through websites like zuji.com where you can also book your flights.
Currently, airlines are also not losing out as they also provide hotel booking services (eg. jetstar.com)

Hotel Room payment was made through traditional payment methods like Telegraphic Transfers or Issue of Cheques.
These payment methods are slower as time is needed to bank in the cheque and filling up the TT forms is a chore. Payment made was not immediate.

Payment can be made through the websites of the hotels. Customers have a easiler time making payment by credit cards. Hotel will receive the payment in a faster manner, even if the hotel is situated at the other end of the world.
Choosing of hotel room is not
easy in the past as you do not know what the hotel rooms look like and are you paying a reasonable price for that hotel room. This is because, you do not have information of outher similar hotel room prices to compare. 
There are many websites with reviews
 that you can read about and photos are posted online for customers to compare the prices and quality of hotels. Websites will also provide hotels that are nearby the place that you want to stay. This will allow customers to see whata re they paying for and what will they expect to get when they are in the country for a business or holiday trip.




Future


There will be 3D images of the hotel room for you to check out the quality of the hotel rooms.
 You can even talk to reviewers live to hear about what they say about the hotel. We will be able to book hotel rooms via live video chats directly with the hotel management. In this way customers will be able to communicate their needs more effectively and get to book better rooms.

Mini Research - Room Reservation Process (testing)

The travel marketplace is where millions of consumers ( me and you ), business (travel agency) and sellers (hotels, airlines, car rental companies) work together to exchange travel services.

In this mini research, our group will be comparing the  marketplace from past till present. We are going to focus on the hotel rooms booking sections.
